The YSR Congress Party Chief and Leader of Opposition, YS Jagan Mohan Reddy said today that his party will boycott all forthcoming sessions of the Andhra Pradesh assembly. Citing the the lack of action by the speaker on the 21 YSRCP MLAs, who defected to the ruling Telugu Desam Party. He said that he will boycott all sessions if they are not disqualified immediately. The Andhra Pradesh assembly winter sessionwill start from November 10.
Jagan said “Since there is no possibility of the defected MLAs being disqualified in the near future, the assembly boycott will continue till the next elections". Since 2014 elections, 21 YSRCP MLAs have defected to the ruling party TDP. The are yet to resign from their MLA posts. It is also noteworthy that four of these defectors are now TDP cabinet ministers - Amarnath Reddy, Bhuma Akhila Priya, Sujay Krishna Ranga Rao and Adinarayana Reddy.
YS Jagan accused Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu of unethical and unconstitutional methods of poching MLAs’, and requested the President Ram Nath Kovind on Friday, to intervene. This decision was made by the YSRCP Legislature Party which alleged that the YSRCP MLAs were admitted into the TDP in the presence of Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu.
