KADAPA: The YSR Congress Party has on Thursday officially requested the Andhra Pradesh Directive General of Police (DGP), to provide security cover to YS Jagan Mohan Reddy for his upcoming Praja Sankalpa yatra. The padayatra is slated to begin from Idupulapaya on November 6 and will go around for the next seven months covering a distance of 3000 km across 13 districts, til Ichchapuram.
Earlier Deputy Chief Minister Nimmakayala China Rajappa and the DGP openly stated that YSRCP needs permission for the Padayatra to go ahead. To this, the opposition responded citing Chandrababu's 2012-13 Padayatra for which he did not take the permission of any local police or the DGP. Further, YSRCP said that the proposed Padayatra will go ahead at any cost.
In addition, Mr. Krishna Mohan Reddy, personal secretary to the leader of the opposition shot off a letter to the Andhra Pradesh DGP asking for security cover during the Padayatra. "I hope that the honorable DGP knows very well that the opposition leader is a Z category protectee. In view of the above-stated point and for holding the Padayatra smoothly, we request you to provide the required Police force as needed", he said.
Also, the letter to the DGP mentioned that the Padayatra will span for a period of seven months and that the route plan and other details will be provided to the Police personnel as and when needed at each district headquarters.
Following the footsteps of his father late Dr. YS Rajasekhar Reddy, the ultimate goal of YS Jagan will be to bring faith in public on YSRCP. For this, the Praja Sankalpa Yatra will feature various MLAs, MPs and other leaders who will be busy explaining the public on the failure of the current government.
