Union Minister M. Venkaiah Naidu has been chosen as Vice Presidential candidate by BJP party and he shall file his nomination papers tomorrow. The BJP chosen him because party wants to give importance to a person from South India specially Andhra Pradesh and Telangana besides that the party wants to have its strong presence in Rajya Sabha. He is a seasoned politician and can manage well and run the house smoothly where the Government is in minority.
The BJP has clear majority with solid support of the southern parties like AIADMK, Telangana Rashtra Samiti and YSR Congress and number of MPs in favoring of their candidates is 557 out of the total electorate of 787.
So, Mr. Venkaiah Naidu enjoys a clear edge over the opposition candidate that is Mahatma Gandhi’s grandson Gopalkrishna Gandhi, nominated by congress party.
M Venkaiah Naidu, come from a farmer’s family and he has years of political experience which brought him admiration across the parties.
He won closely fought assembly election in Andhra Pradesh and despite NTR wave he retained his seat. Naidu was never a member of Lok Sabha. He was, however, elected to the Rajya Sabha three times from Karnataka. At present, he represents Rajasthan in the Upper House of Parliament.
