Charlottesville Violence: Trump Blames Both Sides

Hundreds of protesters in Charlottesville, Virginia joined for a “Unite the Right” rally of white nationalist movement in the United States. As per organizers, the rally was organized to protest the removal of a statue of Confederate general Robert E. Lee. But the rally quickly attracted other more traditional groups of white nationalists, neo-Nazis, and the Ku Klux Klan which resulted in clashes.
President Donald Trump, in a heated news conference in New York, blamed both sides for the violence in Charlottesville, Virginia. Trump’s comments came after he released his first vague statement on the violence, saying that the conflicts on “many sides.”
“I think there is blame on both sides, what about the ‘alt-left’ that came charging at, as you say, the ‘alt-right,’ do they have any semblance of guilt?” Trump asked. “What about the fact they came charging with clubs in hands, swinging clubs, do they have any problem? I think they do.”
He also added: “You had a group on one side that was bad and you had a group on the other side that was also very violent. nobody wants to say it, but I will say it right now.”
