18 Cases Filed: Major setback for Robert Vadra

Robert Vadra is back in the news. As per Haryana state government recommendation, CBI started a probe into a number of land deals in Bikaner. CBI has registered 18 cases in allotment of land to private companies in Rajasthan.
In October 2012, Robert Vadra was accused by Arvind Kejriwal of taking an interest-free loan of 65 crores and heavy bargains on land from DLF Limited in exchange for political favors. DLF responded that it had dealt with Vadra as a private entrepreneur, that the loan was Business Advance which was given, as per the practice of trade, to make payments for land purchased from Vadra, that the company did not sell him land at a throwaway price, and that no quid pro quo took place. Numerous reports have questioned the veracity of balance-sheets of Vadra-owned companies, which claim to have received an overdraft of 7.94 crores from Corporation Bank. Corporation Bank has denied ever providing an overdraft facility to that amount.
It is also alleged that Robert Vadra’s company is involved in the purchase of 275 bigha land in 2010 and sold for profits in 2012. Reacting to the news, senior Congress leader, and former Rajasthan Chief Minister, Ashok Gehlot said that it is political vendetta and there is no point in CBI probe as Robert Vadra in connection was already given clean-chit earlier.
