Andhra Pradesh government promised to complete the prestigious Polavaram project by June 2018. But due to many delays, its timeline changed to 2019. TDP government is doing everything in its power to make sure that the project is completed before the elections. Union water resources minister, Nitin Gadkari, inspected the Polavaram works and promised to complete it before the 2019.
TDP government submitted a revised cost estimate for Rs.54,119 crore, which requires funds from the Central Government. Speaking to the reports, Mr. Gadkari said that Chandrababu Naidu, has been requesting funds to alteast complete the dam by December 2018, but I just assure him that December…probably 3-4 months after that we will try to start it. It’s a very difficult and challenging task, but I will try my level best to make it fast. The CM’s target is very important.”
AP CM Chandrababu Naidu has been visting and inspecting the Polavaram Project regularly. Today, he was was accompanied by Governor Narasimhan and Water Resource Minister, Nitin Gadkari. Nitin Gadkari praised the speedy completion of Pattiseema project.
Polavaram Project is a multi-purpose irrigation project which has been accorded national project status by the union government. This dam across the Godavari River is under construction located in West Godavari District and East Godavari District in Andhra Pradesh state and its reservoir spreads in parts of Chhattisgarh and Odisha States also.
