Modi's Advance Congratulations To President Elect Ram Nath Kovind

As predicted the NDA’s Nominee Mr. Ram Nath Kovind has been declared elected as 14 Th President of India. The 71-year-old, who will be the second Dalit holding the top constitutional position, after KR Narayanan. He received 2930 votes with a value of 702044, as per information given by returning officer, Anoop Mishra. He is the first BJP member to be elected the president.
Mrs. Meira Kumar, a former Lok Sabha speaker and who also belong to a Dalit community, has been defeated and she polled in 1844 votes with a value of 367314.
Kovind was able to manage some cross voting in few opposition states. He has secured votes from sevens MLAs in the Left-ruled Tripura and also six TMC MLAs.
The Congress party is in a bit of worry as it was not able to get its share of votes in Gujarat as they have 57 MLAs but their nominee Meira Kumar got only 49 votes.
Kovind is a Dalit leader and a politician from the BJP. He was a lawyer who practiced in the Delhi High Court and the Supreme Court for 16 years. Kovind represented India in the United Nations and addressed United Nations General Assembly once and, a member of the Board of Governors of Indian Institute of Management.
