Nirav Modi In USA: State Department Yet To Confirm

The US government is aware of media reports that Neerav Modi is in the US, but the State Department did not confirm it. Modi and his uncle Mehul Choksi under the investigation after a complaint were by the Punjab National Bank (PNB) that they allegedly cheated the bank, over Rs 12,000 crore. As per the news reports, Modi is allegedly hiding in the USA. State Department spokesman said, “We are aware of the recent media reports that Neerava Modi is in the US but cannot confirm it. We advise you to ask the Department of Justice to question the cooperation of Indian agencies in the investigation against Nirav Modi.” However, the Department of Justice refused to say anything in the case of Modi.
Forbes has named Modi as India’s diamond king 2016, Neerav Modi and his colleagues allegedly obtained Letter of Undertaking (LoU) from Brady House branch of PNB through fraud. CBI and ED filed the case against both. Neerav Modi, his family, and guardian of Gitanjali James had escaped the country even before the scandal broke out. Refuting the appeal of the CBI to join the investigation, Modi said that he has a business abroad. The CBI also told them to contact the Indian embassy in the country where they are living so that their travel arrangements can be made. Lookout circular has also been issued against them.  A Look Out Circular (LoC), also known as a blue corner notice, has already been issued against Modi and Choksi.
