  • Peritoneal Mesothelioma
  • Pericardial Mesothelioma

Reasons for Mesothelioma:
Mesothelioma is caused as a result of mutations of a cell causing it to multiply and grow abnormally. Researchers have identified some factors that can increase the risk of mesothelioma as:

  • Asbestos exposure:  Researchers found that exposure to asbestos dust particles may result in the formation of mesothelioma after about 30 years.
Also, people who are living with someone who works with asbestos may become victim to the disease as they may be exposed to asbestos dust on skin and clothing.
  • Simian virus: Simian virus which is commonly found in monkeys is also a  potential risk factor which may increase the probability of infecting with mesothelioma.

Regular exposure to Asbestos is researched as the most probable reason behind this rare and fatal medical condition. Asbestos, if inhaled can have several detrimental health results such as respiratory problems, lung disorders etc.
