Mecca Masjid Case: Javed Akhtar Mocks NIA
Javed Akhtar is quite vocal in politics and has been critical of the BJP’s attitude towards minorities in general, rape cases, freedom of speech, etc. After the NIA’s special court verdict in the Mecca Masjid blast case, Javed Akhtar slammed the National Investigation Agency (NIA) over the acquittal of the accused. Akhtar took to Twitter to ridicule the NIA following its failure to prove charges against the accused. The court acquitted all the eight accused, including Hindu activist Swami Aseemanand.
Lyricist Javed Akhtar said that the mission is accomplished. Responding to the comments, BJP spokesman GVL Narasimha Rao has criticized the Bollywood songwriter and replied strongly.
Mission accomplished !! . My congratulations to NIA for their grand success in Mecca Masjid case. Now they have all the time in the world to investigate inter community marriages !!!

Javed Ji, Wish you had the honesty to condemn @INCIndia for "Hindu Terror" formulation. Seems you are in awe of @RahulGandhi for writing a fictional script like you have done so well in films. OR, is "Hindu Terror" also your brainwave as your reported idea of "Maut Ka Saudagar?" https://t.co/35MTCJJal5

Back in 2007, there was a blast in the historic Mecca Masjid in which eight people died and dozens were injured. The Special Court of NIA acquitted all accused in the case, including Aseemanand. The court had told the investigating agency that inadequate evidence was presented against the accused. Since the court’s decision, BJP is demanding an apology from the Congress leadership for instigating the non-existing ‘Hindu Terrorism’.
