Guntur: Police Action On Felling Of Trees

GUNTUR, OCTOBER 28, 2017: The Government of AP is spending a lot of money for increasing the green cover. Even then, it is the Guntur city where a lot of trees are cut by private people through the use of machinery to boost the appearance of the of their commercial establishments. Often the people are felling the trees as preventive measures to avoid damage due to rain and storm.

The Guntur Municipal Commissioner, Ms. S. Nagalakshmi, has warned of strict action on the violator of the law. The public has been reminded of the objective of Andhra Pradesh Water, Land and Trees Act, 2002, which is to promote tree cover and to stop indiscriminate tree felling. Whoever contravenes any of the provisions of this Act shall be punished. A police case has been filed against a person who cut a tree on Arundelpeta 6th lane by the said Municipal Corporation authorities.
