With political campaigns heating up in the AP state, looks like Prime Minister Narendra Modi may introduce bill to advance the dates of the 2019 General Elections. It is expected that elections may be held as early as in November of 2018. BJP is trying to cling on to the wave in the recent landslide victory in Uttar Pradesh, and accompanied by the proposed ‘Bharat Yatra’ by party president Amit Shah, is an indication that elections are around the corner.
It is interesting to note that YSRCP kick started their election campaign during the recent party plenary in Guntur. YSR Congress recently hired political strategist Prashant Kishor, who had helped the successful campaign of BJP, JD(U)-RJD and the Congress in Punjab. In the latest Lagadapati Rajagopal survey, TDP is expected to win the 2019 elections. This may be reason YSRCP is trying to go ahead of the game by starting early.
Nandyal election is seen as a semi-final by many political strategist. It has become a prestige issue for YSRCP as it was originally help by YSRCP candidate. It has become very interesting and complicated as Bhuma family which moved into the TDP after winning the Nandyal election in 2014 on YSRC ticket. Silpa Mohan Reddy migrated from the TDP into the YSRCP after denial of ticket by TDP.
