Even Google Cannot Replace A ‘Guru’: Venkaiah Naidu

BHUBANESWAR: Speaking at the 13th Convocation ceremony of the KIIT University, Vice-President Venkaiah Naidu said that students should focus more on moral-values than technology. He underlined that even Google cannot replace a Guru, when it comes to education with moral values.
“We are living in a modern world, where most of the things are just a tap away. Thanks to the Internet and Smartphones. We can learn new things by just sitting in front of a computer but even Google cannot replace a true Guru. Moral values are more important than material knowledge”, Vice-President Venkaiah Naidu said.
He further added that students should respect their Mother tongue and Motherland. “You might be learning English, Hindi or even French. But, the important thing is you should not forget your Motherland and Mother tongue. Also, we are now in a competitive world, the responsibility is on the students to learn new skills with time and adapt quickly to the changing circumstances if you are to be part of the race. Education with Intelligence is the right way to go forward”.
Citing Dr. A.P.J Abdul Kalam and Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Venkaiah Naidu said that one has to learn from the lives of these great leaders that financial issues or background are never a barrier to stop us from winning big. “It is our privilege to be part of this great nation, rich in heritage. Your responsibility from here will be to work towards the development of the nation following the principle of ‘Unity in Diversity’, the Vice-President concluded.
