As per report of the World Health Organization, Andhra’s Uddhanam has the highest concentration (CKD) of chronic kidney diseases in the world.
The Uddhanam region that lies in north-coastal Andhra consists of more than 100 villages which fall under agency areas of the Srikakulam and Vizianagaram districts. At present, lakhs of people are affected by this disease and it is named as Uddhanam Nephropathy.
Health Minister Kamineni Srinivas declared that the Government of AP is putting dedicated efforts to evolve a permanent solution to the check the Uddhanam Nephropathy disease.
