It has become a tradition at the IFFI to project Indian language films under the section 'Indian Panorama'. As per the notification released by the government, a total of 26 films have been selected under this category, out of which five are from the mainstream cinema. Notably 'Baahubali 2: The Conclusion' and 'Jolly LLB 2' have featured in the list of the five mainstream cinemas selected for projection.

Further, the 2016 National award winner 'Kaasav' directed by Sunil Sukthankar and Sumitra Bhave was automatically selected for screening at the IFFI as per the Indian Panorama regulations.
The Information and Broadcasting Ministry also released another notification, detailing the sixteen non-feature length movies selected for screening. The notable one is the National award winner 'Fireflies in the Abyss', directed by Chandrasekhar Reddy.
