VIJAYAWADA: Andhra Pradesh State Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu has unfortunately missed the Republic Day celebrations at the Indira Gandhi Municipal Stadium in Vijayawada, taking everyone by surprise. The Chief Minister and his Son Lokesh were on an official tour to Davos and as per the schedule, they were to attend the Republic Day celebrations on Friday.
However, the Chief Minister's return to Vijayawada from Davos tour was delayed due to bad weather conditions, forcing him to hold back in Abu Dhabi.
In the meantime, Governor ESL Narasimhan hoisted the National flag in Hyderabad and later, flew down to Vijayawada to participate in the Republic Day celebrations. Chief Minister Chandrababu's wife Bhuvaneswari, grandson and other Ministers were present at the occasion. It was only by 4 PM that the Chief Minister has reached Andhra Pradesh.
On the other hand, opposition YSRCP criticised the Chief Minister for missing the Republic Day celebrations. It alleged that the CM could have scheduled the Davos tour after the Republic Day, pointing out the importance of Mr. Babu attending the event.
