Post bifurcation, the issue of accommodating Haj Pilgrims from Andhra Pradesh in Telangana Haj House has been ignored. AP Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu and minority leaders thought that it would be better to have a separate Haj House in Vijayawada within two years of bifurcation.
Taking the initiative, Vijayawada West MLA, and Wakf Board Chairman, Jaleel Khan went ahead with the plan and was able to secure designs and funds for the same. Presenting the designs to CM Chandrababu Naidu along with other minority leaders and Engineers, Jaleel Khan said that the state-of-the-art facility is built with international standards, and will cost around Rs. 80 crores. The Hajj House will be constructed in Kummaripalem within Vijayawada city limits. For this, AP CM Chandrababu Naidu has already sanctioned 35 Crores. This will cater to the needs of Hajj pilgrim from all 13 districts of Andhra Pradesh.
CM Chandrababu will lay the foundation stone for the proposed Hajj House on 5/12/2018 and the project will be completed in 2 years. Hajj Committee is also constituted during this year. Haj Committee is constituted for making arrangements for the pilgrimage of Muslims for Haj. It discharges its function through a committee constituted by Government and it follows the guidelines and directions issued by Central Haj Committee, Mumbai, Ministry of external affairs and Government of Andhra Pradesh from time to time. The main aim of the Andhra Pradesh State Haj Committee is to provide assistance to the Haj Pilgrims including in the matter of their transport between their home states and the point of exit from India and their transit accommodation at points of exit.
