Congress To Oppose Increase of Andhra Pradesh Assembly Seats

APCC Chief Raghuveera Reddy met Congress President Sonia Gandhi and Vice President Rahul Gandhi and discussed Andhra Pradesh Reorganisation Act. It is reported that Congress and its allies will oppose the the increase in number of seats in the Legislative Assembly. NDA government is working on the bill which is expected to be introduced in both the parliament houses. Congress is trying to oppose and create problems in Rajya Sabha. It is reported that Congress may accept the passage of the bill only after Railway zone is allotted to AP.
As per section 26 of Andhra Pradesh Reorganisation Act, 2014 section 26 bill – ‘Subject to the provisions contained in article 170 of the Constitution and without prejudice to section 15 of this Act, the number of seats in the Legislative Assembly of the successor States of Andhra Pradesh and Telangana shall be increased from 175 and 119 to 225 and 153, respectively, and delimitation of the constituencies may be determined by the Election Commission’
