Even though the ruling party TDP is a coalition partner in the Union Government, it is facing difficulties in ensuring the timely release of funds for construction of many pending Central Institutions in AP.
All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) is one such example, where in the foundation was laid 18 months ago at Mangalgiri, but till date, no work has been started and the foundation stone area has become a playground for the local children.
Similarly, central government allocated 10 other institutions as a package to state after bifurcation, like NIT, IITTM, NACEN, ESSO-NIOT, CIPET etc and these institutions are also facing the similar fate, even though the state government has allocated land and funds for constructing compound walls and road connectivity. Some the institutions have started classes in rented buildings at temporary campuses.
The A P government should at least respond now keeping in view the sentiments of the people of the newly formed state, and pressurize the Union Government to release the funds or make alternate arrangements like providing of bank guarantee to obtain a bank loan to construct the needed infrastructure.
