12-year-old Indian-American Ananya Vinay wins US spelling bee: CNN Anchor Mocks

12-year old Indian-American, Ananya Vinay of Fresno, California won the Scripps National Spelling Bee. She takes home a cash prize of $40,000. She correctly spelled the word marocain, to defeat Rohan Rajeev, 14, from Oklahoma in the tense final round.
That’s not the shocking part of the event, when Ananya Vinay was invited for CNN interview, co-anchor Alisyn Camerota’s blatant display of rude rant made news. After asking Vinay to spell “covfefe”, Camerota then goes on to give some origin of the word “covfefe” and says this to Vinay, “but it is a nonsense word but we’re not sure that it’s root is in Sanskrit which is probably what you’re used to using”.
