12 Maoists killed in Telangana

According to an official confirmation, 12 left-wing extremists of the Telangana State Committee of CPI (Maoist) were killed in an encounter during the early hours of Friday.  The firing which took place between the greyhound anti-insurgency police and the Maoists at the Telangana – Chattisgarh border had alleged killed Hari Bushan, a Maoist known for his military tactical skills.
The firing took place in the forests of Jayashankar Bhupalapally district at around 06.30 am and the Police are yet to identify the 12 Maoists, killed in the attack. A greyhound constable, injured during the firing was airlifted to a nearby hospital while the bodies of the Maoists have been moved to a government hospital in Bhadrachalam.
In view of further retaliation from the Naxals, the State Police have tightened the security in several districts of Telangana, where the presence of Maoists is felt. As per an intelligence input, the firing took place when the greyhound police were patrolling the area and the deceased Maoists were believed to be State committee leaders with huge rewards on their heads.
